About the tour
Included in the
4 Day
tour package are all transfers to and from the park, entry fees, a set of professionally coordinated and supervised game drives and walks, incorporating an entire day spent in the back of an open air gameviewer adventuring in and around the Kruger Park, as well as a night drive, three breakfasts and three dinners, and the popular Blyde river canyon panorama tour.
Lunches, drinks and personals are not included.
Accommodation
Tremisana, the largest lodge in the Balule section of Kruger Park, accommodates guests in a total of fifteen chalets, as well as its comfortable two-bedroomed guest house. Units are all thatch rooved, and completed with air-conditioning and en suite bathrooms, with showers, toilets, and basins, as well as a tea/coffee station. All windows have been insect proofed.
Guests can take a dip in the splash pool, enjoy dinner around a cozy fire in the open air boma, and go game watching from under a covered lapa overlooking a waterhole. Set against the backdrop of soothing, trickling water features within the camp, with romantic, illuminated pathways criss-crossing the grounds, Tremisana Lodge is a place for comfort and relaxation.
Important Info & Warnings
For people who are unable to do the walk, day two can be substituted with a full day, open vehicle safari in the Kruger.
Attractions
Attractions include the stop near the Drakensberg Escarpment to view the Three Rondawels and
Blyde River Canyon
, as well as treks and drives around some of the park's more rewarding bird watching and animal tracks.
Wildlife
The open plains of the area support large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope, as well as the predators which inevitably accompany them. Lions, elephants and buffalo, as well as a troop of Vervet monkeys are all frequent visitors to the park and its guests.
Day 1
• Guests are collected from their hostels or directly from Johannesburg International Airport, making their way in an airconditioned vehicle through Nelspruit to Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule section of Kruger Park.
• Guests can now enjoy a relaxing swim, or sip on a sundowner at the bar before boarding open Landcruisers and setting out in search of the
Big Five
on a sunset drive. After sunset, guides make use of powerful spotlights and exhibit the park's nocturnal inhabitants.
• Marc's Treehouse Lodge will provide lodging from here, accommodating guests in charming rustic treehouses.
• A traditional African dinner is served around a crackling fire in the Boma, before guests retire for the evening.
Day 2
• Morning wake up calls are delivered around sunrise, followed briefly by a drive out to the Balule Plains and a four hour "walk in the wild". Experienced, educated and eager bushguides facilitate the best opportunities to spot the park's famous
Big Five
• The group returns to Tremisana for brunch around 11:30AM, followed by a swim or an afternoon nap either in your chalet or a hammock
• Following the 3:30PM high tea, the group sets out on another afternoon game drive, guides keeping in constant radio contact with the Warden as to the movements of the animals. A closer look at the wildlife is allowed by way of limited off-road availability
• The group returns to Tremisana for dinner at 8PM
Day 3
• Kruger Park's Orpen Gate is the first port of call for day three, where guests board an open Gameviewer. With no windows, and elevated viewing, this trip is a photographer's delight, and allows guests an incredible chance to view game, and indulge their senses in the African bush and its inhabitants
• There are regular stops made at picnic spots and other places of interest
• After a full day of game-viewing and bird-watching, guests return to Tremisana for dinner before turning in for the night
Day 4
• Guides escort guests on an early morning gamedrive on Balule
• Breakfast is followed by a scenic drive through the highlights of the Panorama Route, taking in the view of the Three Rondawels which overlook
Blyde River Canyon
• Airport dropoffs are conducted by arrangement
