Sabi Sand
Notten's Bush Camp

Situated in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Mpumalanga with neighbours being Mala Mala on the Eastern boundary and Sabi Sabi on the Western Boundary. Notten's is a charming, rustic bush camp in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve where Gilly and Bambi Notten and their staff ensure that your stay will be an unforgettable experience. Enjoy a relaxed and informal atmosphere, reminiscent of early days. There is no electricity; paraffin lamps are used for lighting in the comfortable chalets. The camp is unobtrusive and blends well into the bush. An open lounge leads on to a wooden deck overlooking a pan, where one can enjoy marvellous sightings of game coming down to drink and the abundant birdlife is spectacular. The sparkling pool is a good place to cool off and really enjoy the solitude and tranquillity of Africa at its best. The early morning game drive in an open landrover is followed by a hearty bush breakfast. In the late afternoon, after a substantial tea, there is another game drive, with sundowners, returning after dark seeing the nocturnal game with a spotlight fitted to the vehicle.
Enjoy the sounds of the African night having dinner in an open boma under a canopy of stars. Notten’s, the best kept secret in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, is a charming, exclusive family-run bush camp renowned for it’s exceptionally personalised service, welcoming atmosphere and superb cuisine. The wildlife is abundant including the “big five”, which can be viewed on game drives conducted in open land rovers. Activities also include bush walks. The Notten family purchased the property in 1965 and in 1986 Gilly and Bambi Notten opened their family home, to what is known today as Notten’s Bush Camp.

At Exeter we would like your safari experience to be perfect. We have therefore put together a list of items we suggest you should bring along:
From October to April, bring casual summer clothes. A warm jersey/sweater would be useful for the cooler morning and evening temperatures.
From May to September, bring casual light clothing, but remember to bring a very warm, insulated or padded parka/jacket for the very cold mornings and nights – a scarf and gloves are very useful too!
Cotton clothing in neutral colours is recommended and keep whites to a minimum, as white attracts certain bugs at night!
Comfortable walking shoes, track shoes or boots for the bush walks makes life so much easier.
Sandals to wear around your private pool, at meals and within the lodge area.
Shorts for the walks and the warm midday periods.
Swimming costumes.
Sun block / sun hat / sunglasses / lip balm.
Extra pair of correction glasses (if you wear them).
Contact lens solution and an extra set of contact lenses (if required).
Cameras, binoculars and lots of film (film is also available at the curio shop, should you run out)
Video camera and a spare battery. (Batteries can be recharged in your suite. Electricity voltage is 220v - Converters and spare videocassettes are available on request).
