Agulhas National Park - Most popular Camps

The meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic oceans at the furthest tip of Africa is the dramatic setting in which this spectacular South African National Parks offering is situated. The recently proclaimed Agulhas National Park is surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Cape Agulhas’s curving coastline and delicate fynbos vegetation. Historically the location at which ships would be wrecked by the point’s tumultuous weather, the coastline is beautifully littered with the skeletons of wrecked vessels, beyond which whales and porpoises move between the Benguela and Agulhas currents.

Agulhas Rest Camp is an ideal base for exploring the striking contrasts of this location. Climb the 71 steps to the top of the iconic lighthouse at Cape Point and watch the clash of two powerful ocean currents over the rocks, visit the remains of some of the ships wrecked by the notorious Cape of Storms, or explore the wonderfully diverse species of fynbos in bloom. Those who would brave the crashing waves will find the area is perfect for rock and surf angling, while 4x4 trails will lead visitors through areas of pristine conservation. Nearby villages provide an array of wine tastings and microbreweries, art galleries and quaint eateries that are perfect for experiencing life in the slow lane.
