Augrabies Falls' gates are open to day visitors. Hikers are reminded to take along sufficient water supplies for overnight trails, as well as appropriate clothing, always keeping the area's tendency towards sudden shifts in weather in mind.
Pets are not allowed in the retreat or surrounding camps. Firearms must be declared and sealed at the front gate, to be unsealed upon departure. Shoes should be warn in summer in order to avoid scorpion stings.
Malaria has been historically recorded in the area but is not very prevalent. Still, Malaria medication and prophylactics are recommended in order to safeguard against possible infection. Guests should consult with their doctor or chemist in this regard.
Vehicle repair, medical, post office and police services are available at Kakamas. Motorcycles, bicycles, rolerblades and skateboards are not permitted within the park.
