Night-time predators in this area include the African wild cat, bat-eared fox, black footed cat, free-tailed bat, aardwolf and the small spotted genet. Additionally, many antelope species as well as the giraffe are continuously active in the area, daylight also bringing leopard, black backed jackals, caracal, the bat eared fox, and the African wild cat.
Birding in the rest-camp often rewards guests with sightings of orange River White-eye (recently separated from Cape White-eye ), Red-eyed Bulbul, Red-headed Finch, Pale-winged Starling and Karoo Scrub Robin, as well as lovebirds, Golden-tailed Woodpecker, Acacia Pied Barbet, Ashy Tit, Pririt Batis and Dusky Sunbird.

Augrabies' most characteristic plant is the giant aloe called quiver tree (kokerboom), Aloe dichotoma. Add to that the nearly seventy species of grass, shrubs, herbs and trees found in this national park, notable variaties being the dominant Camel thorn (Acacia erioloba), Sweet thorn tree (Acacia karroo), and Shepherd’s tree (Boscia albitrunca), known colloquially as ‘Witgat”, and it's not hard to see this park for the conservationist's paradise that it is.
