reviews)
The climate of this area lends itself to highveld summers and possible afternoon thunderstorms, cold winters and occasional snow. Winter temperatures in Golden Gate have been known to drop to between -9 and -15 degrees C, snow being a regular visitor to the park. Visitors are gladly received in the
Brandwag Hotel's restaurant or coffee shop for something to help warm them up!
Day visitors coming off of the public bypass are welcome to drive through the park. Fuel is available at filling stations either in or on the periphery of the park, and, as per national legislation, all stations are equipped to accept legitimate petrol/fuel/garage/credit/debit cards, as well as cash as forms of payment for fuel purchases.
Pets are not permitted within the park. Firearms must be declared and sealed on arrival, and the seal broken at the reception office upon departure.
Vehicle repairs, medical facilities, post offices and police services are all available at Clarens or Bethlehem. Hikers should remember to bring adequate water supplies for day and overnight trails.
