Great Place
"Cape Vidal is my most favourite place in the world. It has everything I need in a holiday destination: great beach, a game reserve, the different loops providing exquisite birding, etc, etc.
For a couple of years I felt that the maintanance of the resort had been neglected. But all that has changed. The resort has a new lease on life.
Lastly, the staff at Cape Vidal are wonderful people. What a pleasure to deal with them.
If you love nature, desire peace and quiet, yet good service, try Cape Vidal."

Small Problems at Cape Vidal
"Overall my husband and I had a wonderful four/five days in Cape Vidal. But were very very unhappy about the construction work going on all around the Camp. With lorries and trucks filled with cement, bricks and building equipment taking up most of the road and very noisy.
We are birders and at least three wonderful trials were closed/cordoned off, owing to construction work. The worst being Lake Bhangezi/Lokothway which included the Grassland Route, plus the walk in the Camp Site, which was the most important for us to visit.
We feel that we should have been told of the inconvenience before we booked and be offered accommodation at a reduced rated.
I must add that the Foreman we chatted to was a very helpful guy and told us exactly what they were doing and I do understand that upgrading has to be done to Cape Vidal and that this is a quiet time of year before the Christmas holiday season.
But it did mean that we couldn't do half the birding that we had planned.
Apart from the above, and nothing to do with the Camp,Cape Vidal had problems with Eskom, when a transformer blew up between St. Lucia and Cape Vidal. This was very inconvenient, with no electricity for hours on end and having to cook on a braai all the time and only having one oil lamp. But I must admit, that when I enquired at the desk about the problem and that we now needed more charcoal, your lovely lady a Reception (whose name I forget) gave us a massive box of free charcoal from the Office. Very very kind of her indeed. I couldn't fault any of your staff. I am happy to say that Eskom rectified the problem on the evening of our second day.
Other than the above, my Husband and I spent a wonderful time in Chalet no. 25, recommended by one of your staff, as away from a pre-organised wedding, with a pathway down to the beach close by. Quiet, peaceful and full of bird life. Extremely relaxing.
We will certainly return, but this time when all renovations have been completed and I will make sure I enquire first.
We feel reduced facilities, reduced rates for accommodation. As the Chalets are not cheap and we would have liked to have more places for birding and to have been forewarned..
Nevertheless we saw over 60 species in all and cannot fault your staff as always.
Kind regards
Sandie"
