Ithala
Ithala Game Reserve overlooks the oldest rock formations in the world from the green heights of the Ngotshe Mountains. Rich in prehistoric artifacts and wildlife species, the scenic beauty of the area is geologically fascinating, and home to archeological findings and rocks dating back millions of years. This is an area characterized by the beauty of constant metamorphosis: dramatic seasonal changes transform the landscape of this KwaZulu Natal gem along with the shifting environments that evolve from the muggy wetlands, up through savannah, forests and woodlands, and into the craggy sandstone peaks.
Visitors can choose to stay in one of the reserve’s four stunning locales, set in the rugged cliffs of the escarpment, from the exclusive luxury of Ntshondwe Lodge, to the elegant bushcamps of Mhlangeni, Mbizo or Thalu.
