Loskopdam lang naweek

"Die oord is baie mooi skoon en netjies. Die ablusieblokke was elke dag skoon en die water elke keer warm as jy wil stort. Een voorstel: baken die karavaan staanplekke net beter af dat elkeen kan weet waar is sy kamp plek. Loskop sal ons beslis weer sien. Pragtige plek. Lekker gekuier."

First visit to Loskop

"The surroundings beautiful,Resort boat trip very rewarding - saw Kudu, Blou wildebeest, rooibok, and 5 rhinos on the brink of the water, a pity my camera batery went flat. Ablution blocks cleaned up regularly even at night, shop restaurant and other facilities look good and well maintained yet maintenance standards on some ablution blocks are not up to scratch. One toilet at the bottom of non electricity stands pipes was pulled out and not working yet no signs on door or toilet that it is broken(you know what is the result). A very noisy group camped next to us with one guy yelling at the top of his voice very often and thought he is an opera singer, This went on for five days (Thur-Mon). We later complained at night at the gate security and one went with me to the group but I had to do the talking. Later I complained again and talked to the head of security (oom robbie who also had an encounter with the group)I then phoned the deputy manager who drove down, but the group realised they are going to far then suddenly hide in their tents and was quiet for the rest of the last night of the 5 day ordeal. This was realy abnormal behaviour and such person must be thrown out. It was not normal drinking, laughing etc but abnormal shouting and screaming even later than 10 o clock at night.Forever Resorts have to start acting on the many complains on this site about totally unruly groups. After our visit we decided to look for another camping facility for our next holiday and will not return to loskop for the time being."

CAMPING

"Camping area was nice, but a litte uneven, to few power points. Ablusion blocks had no hotwater in the camping areas, i mentioned this to the office, and the response was that they dont know about any problems. Taking into account that the nearest town is 30km away, the shop at the resort was very understocked."

Standards are being dropped

"We did not have warm water in abolution facility A from the Thursday. The site opposite us was occupied by a group of people that manned a water point, these people were extremely noisy and there was no control over behaviour of campers, pepper spray being sprayed was just an example of this. The sites were not cleaned on Saturday and the washing (kitchen areas were never cleaned and there was no warm water there. Definitely not what I were used to at Loskop."

"Disappointed that there were no bath plugs and the two showers I had were also disappointing...No hot water; Lukewarm only.
Very clean which was positive. lovely surroundings. We camped and wanted to stay in the cabins but could not affrd to; I feel the price of the cabins is too high."

Fantastic week end

"The weather certainly played its part in making the week-end an enjoyable one. The resort facilities are excellent and the staff very friendly.Breakfast buffy was fantastic (bit expensive) Only complaint was that some of our fellow campers (you know who I am referring to) did not repect others and was noisy untill 01h00 the morning. We will visit the resort again...Thx everyone"

"Caravan stands are relatively uneven and is difficult to stable the caravan. We did not have hot water in the showers the first morning, and after numorous calls and visits to reception, the geysers were switched on. The second morning we again encountered the same problem.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay, except for some young guys that misbehaved at the restaurant on the Friday evening due to alchohol abuse.
I also think that the camping fees is somewhat expensive compared to other resorts with the same rating."

"We found the log cabins very neat and tidy, with everything needed inside. The only thing that we feel can be changed is the airconditioning. We would rather prefer them inside the sleeping rooms and not in the living room. But otherwise perfect."

"The overall experience was great, although we had numerous power interruptions in the week one of over 6 hours. I had booked a power stand, but there was no alternative power back up, and no follow up by reception. I had to drive to reception to get answers, as they did not answer their phone. A very tranquil and enjoyable stay was had by all in my family in general, 2012 started off well."

A Weekend at Loskop Dam

"My partner and I visited the loskop dam for a weekend away from the city. I must say that we were quite excited about the trip - as it was our second visit to the resort.

The log cabins are really good quality accommodation, and the venue is a great place to unwind.

I was a bit disappointed by three things;

1) The pub by the dam was closed
2) The pub next to the restaurant was also closed
3) There were dead fish all over the dam - something wrong with the water!

Overall, nice plce"

"when we go to loskop, we expect quiet and tranquility. it started off the first night when a group of people from an energy drink company arrive in the middle of the night who were seriously intoxicated pitched camp and quite obviously woke the rest of the camp.
the next day trying to find some one to compain too and that takes half a day, so in the end a 2 day get away ended in a half day of our time
UNEXEPTABLE

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS TO A FRIEND?

YES IF YOU CAN CONTROL THE GROUPS OF PEOPLE"

Problems

"Hi, despite we had a lovely time at loskopdam we found a few problems in bungalow no 66. 2-3 of the light bulbs were blown and the stoves left from plate did not work. Did not check everything but in general the unit was nice. the staff very friendly. I assumed that the gardens through out the resort could have been watered to eliminate some of the winter dusts etc."
