The
Malelane area hosts white rhino, kudu, impala, giraffe, elephant, reedbuck, klipspringer, grey rhebok, wild dogs, and warthog. Leopard are a regular sight in the area, as well as drinking at the dam in front of the camp. Lion can usually be found in the lower plains on the roads to Skukuza and Crocodile Bridge.
Facilitates sightings of Grey Tit-flycatcher (Fan-tailed Flycatcher), White-browed (Heuglin's) and White-throatedRobin-chats, with the particularly prominent Scarlet-chested Sunbird. Matjulu Dam attracts a variety of water birds, African Fish Eagle being viewable at close quarters.
Situated in Mountain Bushveld, Malelane hosts many unusual plants in the mountainous landscape. Prominent trees are the red bush-willow and the magic guarri.
