By Air:The closest airport to
Orpen is Eastgate Airport that is situated in Hoedspruit. The airport is approximately 68 km from Orpen Gate.
By Road - Orpen Gate: • Head toward Nelspruit on the N4 and take the R540 Belfast turn off.
• At Lydenburg turn left onto the R36 heading north.
• 30 km before Hoedspruit turn right onto the R531 and head to the gate. Allow between 4 to 5 hours for the trip to the gate.
• Orpen camp is right at the gate.

Recommended game drives from this camp:1. From Orpen Gate to
Satara, travel along the
H7, turning right onto the
S106 and then right again on the
S140, which leads past
Talamati Bushveld Camp (becoming the
S145). A right turn at the T-junction, into the
S36 will take you past a picnic spot and back to the Orpen-Satara Road (
H7), onto which you can turn right to get to Satara, or left to get back to Orpen.
2. From Orpen, take the
S39 from the
H7, which runs along the Timbavati river. Follow the road until reaching a four-way stop, where you can take the
S40 right, down to the Girivana and Nsemani waterholes, before meeting up with the
H7 between Orpen and Satara again.
