Potjiespram has the best of both worlds with mountains and a river, providing lush vegetation.
Birding here often yields Ostrich, Purple Heron, Darter, Booted Eagle, Martial Eagle, Osprey and Peregrine Falcon, African Black Duck, Curlew Sandpiper, Cape Eagle Owl, and the Pied Kingfisher, although many others can be found.
