Kruger Park

"We had a fantastic time while in Kruger staying at Satara. One thing could use improvement. The bees and birds made it hard to enjoy the restaurant at Lower Sabie. A screened porch around the tables would greatly improve things."

Close to nature

"Our stay at Satara was short of magic.

The bungalow was great, and we loved the outside kitchen. The wild animals could be heard at night, and we felt very close to nature. I will definenitely go there again. In actual fact we are planning to stay over again in December when we will visit the Kruger Park for four nights."

Our bungalow needs new aircon, as the noise it made was terrible! The grounds are lovely with amazing bird life.

Awesome bungalow

"We wish we had stayed here longer and we will be returning to Satara. There is more game in and around Satara and we generally liked being more central in the Park.
My only comment is that the Satara Park Shop and the restaurant have the most SHOCKING service, with no clue how to solve problems or provide a better service to customers. Waiting in the queues at the restaurant is painful, the breakfast was made from what looked like plastic or powdered scrambled eggs, and we were generally disappointed.
Also - what is the point of having electric fencing around the perimeter when the electric wires on the trees (see attached photo) are broken and mangled? What kind of image is this setting for foreigners and tourists? It looks unkempt and dilapidated. It was disappointing to see."

A fantastic night drive

"We've taken 4 night drives now in our visits to Kruger. The first two were disappointing; the third was nice and the one we took on the evening of 23 October 2010 was unbelievable.

Edward, from Satara, was our guide. He stretched a 2 hour night drive into 3 hours--3 hours packed with wonderful sightings. Edward was an exceptional guide with very good knowledge of the animals. During the drive we saw elephants and rhino as well as a number of bucks. We were thrilled when we saw a leopard and then a second. But the biggest thrill came with the sighting of the third leopard--stalking a porcupine! We even got to see a Serval and two civits. Wow, what a night! My wife and I came home and had a hard time getting to sleep because of the fantastic trip.

We look forward to our future Kruger trips. I must say that Kruger never disappoints. No two trips are the same, but just when you think you've seen it all, you get a wonderful surprise. We also thank the God who created all these wonderful creatures and the wonderful staff at Kruger for making the experience something we long to repeat over and over. Thanks!"
