Travel routes and times from central Gauteng are listed below. Travel by road requires entry through one of Kruger National Park's gates.
By Road - Phalaborwa Gate:• Take the N1 toll-road to Polokwane (Pietersburg).
• 40 km before Polokwane turn right onto the R71 and head for Tzaneen.
• After Tzaneen, head towards Phalaborwa and the gate. Allow between 6 to 7 hours for the trip to the gate.

Shimuwini Bush Camp is 50 km away from the gate. Allow about 2 hours for the drive to the bush camp, however if you want to enjoy the game viewing possibilities give yourself more time!

Recommended game drives from this camp:1. There is a small loop, the
S41, situated just in front of Shimuwini Bushveld Camp. You can take the loop by driving directly out of the camp and following the road, keeping right. Take the first, and then the next left to circle the road.
2. The
S136 out of Shimuwini leads north towards Mopani. Take the first left onto the
S146, which travels south to Stapelkop Dam, which is also the site of Joubert’s Grave.
