Guest reviews for Tamboti Tented Camp

Excellent trip!
"Another excellent stay at Tamboti. I am always thrilled to stay in Kruger! But I wanted to say how grateful I was to find that my cell phone was handed in by the camp staff after I accidently left it in the tent before checking out.
Many thanks. It took a 4 hour detour to collect it but my trip would have been ruined if I lost it. Many thanks."

Stay at Tented Camp Tamboti
"Absence of a procedure how to change multiple days reservations during the actual stay at Kruger (need to adjust to changed plans, actual situation,...etc) would make the experience more pleasant. I had to keep calling for 3 days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) to get replaced one night at Tamboti for a night at Mopani for the same price."

Tamboti luxury tent
"Lovely luxury tents. Upon arrival at Orpen, we were warned to pack our goods away outside our tent during day & night because of the "very bad baboon problem". Problem with this is that Tamboti doesn't try and prevent baboon problems since the bins provided on the patio are open bins - they do not seal, they do not have clasps to lock them down. Needless to say, the baboons and Vervets know this, and keep coming back for more. Our dustbin was thrown around several times. I refused to put the dustbin inside the tent - for obvious hygiene reasons! I think that Tamboti needs to be more responsible and practical when addressing the baboon issue.
Otherwise - our stay was lovely, although we didn’t see any animals on the riverbed at all which was disappointing. And the game drives from Orpen were fruitless and a waste of time and money - we saw nothing!"

Tamboti Tented Camp
"Enjoyed whole experience. Tents great at tamboti.
Rubbish bins a problem with baboons. Need to be secured so baboons can't access or tip them over.
Pool at orpen great."

Tranquility
"It was so much more amazing than we expected and have already made a booking for another 2 nights in a couple of weeks!
The ONLY down side tour trip was that we were LOVING the place so much and next thing by 8.45am there were people coming in to clean up!! We had to pack and eat breakfast in a hurry and leave. Should check out not be extended to 11am? Its 11am in most places. You must understand that the morning of departure is hectic enough without being ushered out. But, like I said it was AMAZING!!! Didn't see much though. A lot of birds, a squirrel and a civet."

very impressed
"I was impressed by the luxury tents at this camp. Only matched by the tents in Lower Sabie. Very good value for money."

Tamboti 'Luxury' tent camp
"I was rather disappointed with my stay at the tamboti tent camps. The first thing we saw when entering the tent was a old looking and stained counterpain on the bed. Then there were ants and ant eggs on the bed where it touched the headboard. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. I was further put off by the fridge standing in the middle of the passage. All that needs to be done is to remove the shelf, and the fridge would be able to fit into its designated cubicle.
I was also shocked to see that there isn't even a drying rack supplied with the dishes, nevermind the absence of a bit of dish washing liquid.
How are people supposed to let the cutlery stand to dry without a drying rack?"

"We were pleasantly surprised and utterly enjoyed the tent and beautiful view on the river! Heard lions roar the whole first night and children loved it! Will definitely go again. Maybe water at each tent?
Good and friendly reception at Orpen and special thank you for the person who came in from home to help me with a troublesome washing machine!"

All was fantastic but staff attitude was a let down at Olifants
"The trip was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are really genuinely interested in making changes I would introduce a 'mystery guest' program where people go in and try a meal at camps or make bookings for accommodation at the camps themselves, and evaluate or rate the service levels. The Services of reception Staff at Olifants was pathetic. We also had a very poor meal there. The Reception staff at Orpen Gate were just not able or not willing to help with a problem we had, they too were completely useless!! Other than that most staff were friendly and Skukuza is looking fantastic. The new restaurant setup there is awesome. We also had exceptionally good service at Lower Sabie."

Tamboti Tented Camp
"Stay was excellent. Camp requires more shade, extremely hot. Towels in safari tent must be replaced. The bush in front on tent can also be trimmed, so as to see the water passing - more relaxed feeling. Overall, an excellent camp and an excellent stay-away. Will definitely be back."

Ablutions
"It would have been nice to have ablutions closer to the tents...? We arrived in the rain and battled to organise a portable braai. So much so that the duty manager sent me to negotiate with the people using "all 3" the drum braais. When I drove out to the day visitors area where they were preparing the food for the group, they were in fact, only using two.... We did eventually get the braai. Thanks. We love Tamboti!"
