The design of this 4-star lodge is contemporary, warm and welcoming. Guest common areas offer a generously proportioned lounge, bar, boma and extensive decks with breathtaking views overlooking the Nhlaralumi river where regular wildlife sightings take place and guests can unwind.
Accommodation consists of four luxury tents and three chalets; all are privately situated, comfortably furnished and with en-suite facilities.

Our luxurious tented accommodation offers generous bush or water views from your own private viewing deck. Tents are spaced adequately far apart to ensure privacy, and they have all of the amenities to ensure a luxurious and comfortable stay.

Activities
Activities & Wildlife
The lodge offers Big 5 safari Game Drives in the early morning and evening to ensure game viewing when the animals are most active. Nocturnal animals, including the big cats are regular sightings at night. Currently there are over 40 mammal species in the Timbavati including the Big 5 of Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant as well as 360 species of bird life. Bush walks are also offered but restricted to those over 12 years old.
The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve was initiated in 1956 by a group of land owners concerned about the degradation of this once pristine wilderness area. Timbavati is dedicated to conservation by maintaining the biodiversity of species and is also involved in different research projects.

Directions to Simbavati
Getting there by road:
Simbavati River Lodge is a 6 hour Drive from Johannesburg.
Take the N4 to Witbank. Take the Belfast Offramp (R33/R540). Once in Belfast town, turn right into Voortrekker Street and continue straight to Dullstroom on the R540. Drive through Dullstroom town to Lyndenberg. Once in Lyndenberg turn left into Potgieter Street and continue straight to Orighstad on the R36 until it turns left to Tzaneen. Do not turn, but continue straight on the R527 to Hoedspruit.
In Hoedspruit, continue straight over the bridge crossing the train tracks to a T-junction. At the stop turn right and continue towards Bosbokrand / Bushbuckridge along the R40. 6/7km from Hoedspruit, note the East-Gate Airport sign on your left hand side. At the sign, turn left towards the Eastgate airport and Timbavati. Drive past the airport for 27 km of tar till you reach the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. At the entrance you will be required to pay an entrance/conservation fee of R 100.00 per person and R 110.00 per car(Above fees are subject to change).
Continue Straight for 15.9km (on tar road), you will see a dam on the right hand side, turn right after the dam where it is clearly marked with Simbavati River Lodge. Follow the Simbavati River Lodge paw print signs on the trees for a further 6km to the lodge.

An exclusive African Safari experience awaits you at the Simbavati River Lodge, situated in the world famous Timbavati Private Game Reserve, which forms part og the Greater Kruger National Park. The reserve is home to the famous White Lions and offers exceptional game viewing opportunities. Simbavati River Lodge has extensive tracts of wilderness(over 9500 hectares) in which to experience an authentic but affordable African safari.
An intimate and child friendly camp, Simbavati River lodge places emphasis on relaxation. Chalets are comfortably furnished complete with air conditioning, further enhancing your tranquil African Bush experience. The lodge also offers a lounge, bar, restaurant and breathtaking views of the nearby Nhlaralumi river. Mid Morning Brunch and Afternoon High-Tea is served outside on a wooden deck and combines African and Western cuisine offering exciting new tastes for the adventurous as well as more conventional preferences. Served around the campfire in an open-air boma, Dinner is a memorable occasion for all guests who dine at Simbavati River Lodge.
