Overview

Location: South Africa-->Kruger National Park-->Kapama Game Reserve
Accommodation Type: Lodge
Comfort Level: Luxury

Good For: Couple/Romantic, Solo, Family |

Camp Jabulani is a family-owned and managed private luxury safari lodge located within the private Kapama Game Reserve in Hoedspruit, South Africa (in close proximity to the Kruger National Park in the scenic Mpumalanga region).

With a Relais & Chateaux accreditation, this lodge is guaranteed to offer first class accommodation, cuisine, facilities and personalised service. But its most notable feature is the herd of trained African elephants, which were rescued by the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. Visitors can experience the extraordinary through personal interaction with these mammoth animals on daily elephant-back safaris, or while watching the elephants at play in the waterhole or casually browsing in their natural wild habitat near the stables.

This luxurious lodge has only six suites – never more than 12 guests, while the exclusive Zindoga Villa is ideally suited to the family traveller, or the client who prefers a more private, luxury experience.

Accommodation

Camp Jabulani offers six private and remote luxury suites. Massive wooden sliding doors open to interiors which are a pure translation of style, comfort, elegance and an understated appreciation of the natural environment.

Room facilities and amenities include an open plan bathroom, glass-enclosed shower, fire place and separate lounge, private deck with plunge pool, Wi-Fi access, mini-bar, safe, hair-dryer, separate lounge area and luxuriant body products

Zindoga Villa

A completely self-contained facility, the Zindoga Villa is a palatial replica of Camp Jabulani’s style and elemental premise. The Villa is a mammoth 424m2, with an additional 225m2 of wooden decking overlooking the wild African bush.

Two individual suites are connected by a joint lounge and dining area. Each unit has a massive bedroom with bathroom en-suite (including glass enclosed shower), expansive wooden deck, and a private heated plunge pool. One of the suites also has an adjoining charming twin room, with private bathroom, for two children sharing. The Villa can accommodate a maximum of 9 guests at any given time.

The Zindoga Villa has wireless internet connectivity throughout for those who need to be connected to business or home, and is serviced by its own dedicated team – including ranger (and private vehicle), chef and butler.

Elegance, grand open spaces, luxurious finishes, and a harmonious union with the African wild are the order of the day.

Wildlife

Camp Jabulani is based on Kapama, a Big 5 Game Reserve near to Kruger National Park. The lush vegetation and varied habitats of this balanced ecosystem means that it is able to support dense populations of wild animals, offering world class game viewing opportunities.

A true African safari experience, visitors will enjoy herds of antelope, giraffe and zebra grazing and congregating at the many waterholes, their senses alert to the threat of a hunting predator in the area.  Kapama has five separate prides of lions and we have frequent sightings of leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena as well as other smaller carnivores. Prepare to be humbled by the size and power of the elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros.

Twitchers will find their Mecca here, as more than 350 bird species have been recorded, including the endangered Ground hornbills,  Lappet-faced vultures and the rare African finfoot.

Kapama’s animals have learned not to feel threatened by our open sided vehicles, allowing for close-up photographic opportunities. We also strictly limit the number of guests on each Land Rover so that you have unobstructed views.

What makes Camp Jabulani a standalone destination is the fact that this experience of wild Africa may be enjoyed on foot, from the comfort of a safari vehicle or onelephant-back

Reviews

Saw all Big 5 and many other species; 3-1 hour safari elephant rides and morning, afternoon, and evening vehicle safari rides. Fed and put elephants to bed. Saw Bush Baby that came into the vehicle and hung out for a few minutes. Enjoyed Endangered Species Center experience. Great food. Fantastic rooms that we were hardly in as we were out on safari so much. Staff attentive and seem to love their jobs. Can't imagine a safari could be better anywhere else.

This has got to be the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Tastefully decorated and the most welcoming lounge areas. The staff are so friendly and fun to be with and the food was fabulous. We enjoyed every minute of this place. Including lying awake at night listening to the lions roar. The elephant experience is magical and we were so impressed with the Hoedspruit Endangered Species centre - they are doing great work.Hats off to all and well done Kate especially.

It doesn't get any better than this. From the time you are greeted you are taken care of with warmth, professionalism, and graciousness that left me in tears when I said goodbye to the staff! The suites are magnificent, food is gourmet and the amount of food, wine and hospitality is out of this world. Riding the elephants after or before a Happy Hour put a wonderful thrill in the experience. Animals galore, where we saw the big 5 and the guide was extremely knowledgable. What a great first South African experience!

We enjoyed three memorable days and nights at Camp Jabulani. It featured wonderful accommodations, including an awesome common area with massive fireplaces. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything was very tastefully-decorated. The meals were deliciously-prepared and the service was outstanding. The elephant experience was a great deal of fun. We did the late afternoon elephant ride and had a blast. Our visit to the Endangered Animal Center and seeing all the cheetahs was another highlight of our stay. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for a second tour in order to see the rescued rhinos.Camp Jabulani is a real gem of an experience! We recommend it highly.

Beautiful lodge tastefully decorated with very attentive staff and delicious food and wine. The elephant back safari is absolutely amazing and so is the visit to Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. Go now!

Marcelo

Everything is perfect at Camp Jabulani. The hotel, the food, the people, the decor, the ambiance, the fact that it is luxurious without being pompous. It really makes you feel comfortable. The experience with Jabulani and other elephants is something we will never forget. We were expecting to be "all about elephants" but in fact the Kapama Reserve is wonderful, full of zebra, giraffe, rhino, hypo, gazelles, buffalo, lions and in November there were several cubs! The Endangered Species Center does a great and much needed job. Lente Roote should be proud. I think that instead of staying home and making donations, the best way to help save rhinos, elephants, and cheetahs, is for people to go spend their money at camp Jabulani. We will go back in 2016, for sure.
