Location: South Africa-->Kruger National Park-->Kruger Park Private Concessions
Accommodation Type: Lodge

Good For: Couple/Romantic |

Hoyo Hoyo Lodge is located in the 10 000 hectare Imbali concession found in the centre of the Kruger National park. The region is rich in Shangaan history and culture, which is reflected in the traditional Tsonga-style lodge. Hoyo Hoyo seamlessly combines luxury with ethnicity, elegance with rusticity, and modern-day opulence with traditional temperance, which allows guests to experience the lifestyle and culture of the locals.

Located on the path of an ancient elephant route on the Mluwati River, the earthy coloured lodge blends harmoniously with the landscape. The breathtaking lodge exudes welcoming warmth, and flawless service ensures a magnificent safari experience.

Accommodation

The innovative Hoyo Hoyo Lodge accommodates a maximum of 12 guests in 6 luxurious traditional ‘beehive’ suites. Spaced for privacy, the thatched cylindrical suites nestle beneath the shade of ancient giant fig and leadwood trees. Fabrics and décor are sourced from the local Tsonga community.

The suites have en-suite bathrooms with stone baths and outside showers, and expansive private game-viewing decks with gorgeous views onto the river and the game-filled plains beyond.

Wildlife

The Kruger National Park boasts huge biodiversity in both its plant and animal life. The Big Five live here, as well as many cheetah, elephant, hippopotamus, spotted hyena, wild dog, and zebra

The Mluwati Pride frequents the Ngwenyeni Dam and is usually spotted in the immediate lodge surrounds. The high density of leopards in the area ensures regular sightings of these shy nocturnal predators.

The region is a paradise for bird-watchers, boasting more than 500 species. The diversity of habitats in the reserve results in a rich diversity of species. This includes the renowned 'Big Six', namely Ground hornbill, Martial eagle, Saddle-billed stork, Pel's fishing owl, Kori bustard and Lappet faced vulture.

Hans

we enjoyed the warm hospitality and wonderful service at Hoyo Hoyo lodge. The food was varied and tasty and the accommodation comfortable in high traditional conical huts. staff were very friendly and helpful. Only the outdoor shower was not so welcoming as it was so cold in the early and late part of the day.

John

We had an amazing weekend of food, game viewing, and relaxation. A wonderful lodge; little gem in the bush.

We had a great stay at Hoyo Hoyo Lodge. A lovely welcome, perfect cooked meals, a lot of free drinks during the day and an ranger that made it possible to see a lot of the animals from very close distance. We can really recommend the Lodge! Thank you for these days!

The Hoyo Hoyo was unlike anything I have experienced and I have traveled to many countries. I think the best part of the Hoyo Hoyo was the staff. They are from a local tribe and they really offer you that South African experience. They are so nice and they work so hard to give you the best. The huts are adorable and cozy while still being luxurious. The beds are heavenly and there is nothing better than sitting out on your deck while watching the animals. When I tell people that I stayed here they seem to think I went to some zoo but there was literally an elephant outside the main lodge just eating the bushes like it was no big deal. It was awesome. The food at the Hoyo Hoyo is also incredible. I dream about the food all the time!! Since it is far away from cities and lights you can look up at the night sky and see stars everywhere. The two daily game drives are so much fun and seeing the animals never gets old. If you tell the driver what animals you want to see they will drive you to them. The Hoyo Hoyo left me with great memories and I wouldn't stay anywhere else while in Kruger! I miss this place soooo much and I cannot wait to go back to see the staff and be in heaven once again.
